Iranian director Parviz Shabazi’s ‘Malaria’ is slated to vie at Shanghai International Film Festival, China.

‘Malaria’, Shahbazi’s third cinematic work about Iranian youth, after ‘Deep Breath’ and ‘Trapped’, won the Grand Prix award at Warsaw International Film Festival in 2016.

Starring Saghar Qanaat, Saed Soheili and Azadeh Namdari, the movie narrates the story of two youngsters with a taste of street music in Tehran.

The Iranian feature world premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in Italy.

‘Malaria’ was screened at various festivals, including Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and the 52nd edition of the Chicago International Film Festival in the US.

“Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) was officially founded in 1993 upon the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China,” the official website of the event wrote.

SIFF is a non-specialized competitive international film festival recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations. Nineteen festivals have been held so far.

The 20th Shanghai International Film Festival is scheduled to be held from June 17 to 26, 2017.
